The Liberian Community of Metropolitan Charlotte (LIBAC) proudly announces its 2026 Independence Celebration, commemorating the 179th Anniversary of Liberia’s Independence.
This year’s celebration is more than a cultural observance—it is a month-long community initiative centered on unity, heritage, education, leadership, and empowerment.
Through worship, cultural festivities, community engagement, and youth investment, LIBAC invites the Charlotte community and friends of Liberia to join us in honoring Liberia’s rich history, vibrant culture, and lasting contributions.

A major highlight of this year’s Independence Celebration is the launch of LIBAC’s $30,000 Scholarship Initiative.
Through sponsorships, donations, and fundraising efforts, LIBAC seeks to provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors and college students pursuing higher education.
This initiative reflects LIBAC’s continued commitment to investing in future leaders while helping reduce financial barriers to educational success.
📜 Community Recognition
The 2026 Independence Celebration also recognizes the historic City of Charlotte Proclamation, issued on July 15, 2023, officially recognizing July 26 as “Liberia Day” in the City of Charlotte.
The proclamation:

Celebrates Liberia’s rich cultural heritage.
Strengthens community visibility and civic pride.
Serves as a lasting symbol of recognition, inclusion, and partnership.
